Carol M. Mackey is a Senior Acquisitions Editor at Recorded Books, Inc.
Mackey made the switch to audiobooks in 2017 after a successful career as the Editor in Chief of the award-wining Black Expressions Book Club, the only direct to consumer book club for African Americans. Currently, she licenses audio rights from major publishing houses (“the Big 5”) to the small independents and everything in between. Her enthusiasm for the recorded word and all that Recorded Books has to offer, has enabled her to form stellar relationships with not only agents and publishers, but new authors as well. Her accounts include Penguin Random House, Baker Publishing, Oxford University Press, The Mayo Clinic, Urban Books, Brown Girls Books and Johns Hopkins University Press just to name a few. She is looking for multi-genre fiction, sports, health and wellness and Christian, African American and multicultural fiction and nonfiction.
A “friend to authors,” Mackey is the author of two stand-alone titles: SISTERGIRL DEVOTIONS: Keeping Jesus in The Mix on the Job (Revell Books) and Faces of Praise: Photos and Gospel Inspirations to Encourage and Inspire (Faith Words). She was also a contributing writer to the devotional, Mornings with Jesus 2019 (Guideposts). Carol M. Mackey happily resides in New York with her family and a Siberian husky named “Blu.”
