This year's event features, among others, Walter Mosley, Terry McMillan, Zane, Pearl Cleage, Kimberla Lawson Roby, Victoria Christopher Murray, Tananarive Due, Virginia DeBerry and Donna Grant, Trisha R. Thomas, Carol Mackey, J.D. Mason, ReShonda Tate Billingsley, actress Victoria Rowell, Dr. Bertice Berry, R.M. Johnson, Lyah Beth LeFlore, Trice Hickman and exciting newcomers Esauren Phyer and James Jamison, among others. And there will be a few more dynamic additions.

Books That Bind Us, Atlanta

Founded in 2005, the Books That Bind Us Book Club in metro Atlanta has been a stalwart in church and community. The group actually formed after meeting at the '04 NBCC. They were in separate reading groups, and elected to create their own after "the inspiration we received received at the NBCC," president Stephanie Brooks said. The members are Stephanie, Carol Heath, Lisa Horne, Verna Waller, Monica Heath and Dionne Bennett. Lisa also started a Mother/Daughter Book Club. Books That Bind Us lost one member, Jean Barnes, to cancer in April 2005. She, however, was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of meeting her favorite author, J. California Cooper at the 04 NBCC.

Last book you read: Multiple books, including "Outliers" (Malcolm Gladwell); "After The Hell" (China Ball); "The Barack In Me (Moses Miller)
Most fun city to visit: Winston-Salem, N.C. The readers are wonderful and have shown me show much love! And I love them back!
If not an author: I would more than likely return to higher education because I love being in a learning environment.

Last book I read: Advanced copy of "Mama Dearest" by E. Lynn Harris. Great read!
Most fun city to visit: South Beach, Miami. All the fun of another country but still here in the States.
If not an author:  I would be an actor if I weren't a writer.

Last book read: Reading Eric Dickey's Resurrecting Midnight. It already has me behaving badly - like stopping at red lights and pulling out my Kindle.  I had a great summer of reading - read 7 books in August!

Most fun city to visit: There's not a place like where I was born and raised - New York, New York.  There is an energy in that city that I haven't been able to find anywhere else.   When I need an energy boost, I don't drink Red Bull, I go to the Big Apple!

If not an author: I'd be teaching writing!  I love teaching and I love writing so, it's a natural! (Not very exciting, huh?)
