The mission of the National Book Club Conference is to create the world's largest
book-club meeting once a year, to promote the value of reading and formulating book
clubs among adults and in the nation's public school systems for the purposes of
advancing literacy, broadening youths' minds and knowledge through reading and dialogue.
"Reading promotes learning, which promotes growth, which promotes prosperity."
The National Book Club Conference, Inc., is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by Curtis Bunn on
the principles of promoting the wonder of books, both to adults and youths. Our
commitment to executing an annual literary event that places avid readers with a diverse collection of esteemed
authors in an informal, fun environment is unshakable.
The NBCC is comprised of a small, dedicated and detail-oriented staff based outside
of Atlanta that works year-round to produce what noted author Walter Mosley calls,
"The best book event I've ever been to."
At the same time, the heart of the National Book Club Conference, Inc., is
our Youth Book Club Program. The NBCC goes into public schools and help develop
or support existing reading groups as a way of addressing the alarming literacy
rate among our kids. It is an initiative that has been embraced by the hundreds
of youths involved in the program and by educators throughout Georgia.
The NBCC's community commitment is strong and unbending. And its Board of Directors
expresses depth and diversity.
